Teamwork (from below)

Shai Coggins of Just Make Money turned me on to this neat team management online app that lets you see how your team is progressing on a particular project. It’s called IDidWork, and it’s simple enough to use that anyone who works with other people online should get on it asap!

Logging on to the free service brings you to the main Log screen which sort of looks like Twitter. It’s here that the main difference between the two micro-blogging services presents itself: by simply asking “What did you do?” instead of Twitter’s “What are you doing?” the site launches itself into serving the online workforce, giving them a chance to keep a log which could be as detailed as necessary. You could add tags to it, specify how long it took you to do it, etc.

The neat thing about ididwork is that it allows you to keep an eye out on what your other teammates are doing via feed. If you’re part of a 5-man team, it’s good to know that you aren’t the only one doing all the work on a given project. If you’re the project manager of an 800-page technical manual on various heavy machinery, you can go to bed at night safe in the knowledge that the people who are working for you halfway around the globe are actually working.

Since ididwork is relatively new (they launched on August 5, 2008), there’s a ton more features that they could include in the future such as a shared calendar of events. The only way to make a good service better is to run it through its course and offer valuable feedback, so sign up now!
